you have to change
jobs often,
naturally

Every ten years or so, so
they don't
suspect
you can't change
or age
or hide

Perfectly preserved,
but ironically deteriorated more
with each day,
fangs with cavities
and shoulders
heavy
from the cloak;
sore fingers from
removing the paper
stuck in the copier

And now, hours spent
searching
for something new
where there could
be a fool
again

No rings
or registries
to explain or advertise;
no broken vials
or empty test tubes
for people to question

A new résumé,
removing things
that no longer
apply
